Fall Break is this Saturday through Tuesday (Oct. 16-19), but if you are in the Rome area, there are home games this weekend for football (Sewanee) and soccer (Millsaps) as well as a cross country invitational meet. When classes resume, we will be in the 9th week of the semester, and looking forward to the remaining 5 weeks of classes.

October has arrived, the weather is turning cooler and fall break is 10 days away. As we begin the 7th week of classes, we are delighted and relieved to see evidence that the COVID threat is beginning to wane. All of us hope that we will soon be able to relax some of our mitigation measures.

A year ago, most campus activities were curtailed. Fall sports seasons were cancelled as were all large public events and gatherings. Let's be vigilant with regard to COVID, recognizing that it is a persistent menace. What a difference a year makes!

This week we look forward to celebrating signature Berry traditions with a full range of Mountain Day activities including the Olympics, talent show, Grand March, football and volleyball games, a theatre production, and Marthapalooza. First and second year students alike will be able to experience this strange and wonderful form of homecoming, as we will celebrate with parents, friends and alumni.

September 02, 2021 - Update

Our local region is red hot in terms of COVID cases.  Yesterday, a local teenage boy died from COVID.  This week, a Berry alum and mother with young children died. As you plan for your Labor Day weekend, whether here in Rome or perhaps at home, please double your caution when you leave campus.  When indoors in public places, please wear a mask.  Help keep our campus safe.

It is great to see the campus full and thriving. In these last few days, hundreds have attended events ranging from BCC campfire night to an evening of Karaoke under the tent outside Sisters Theatre. Our goal remains the same: for Berry to provide as normal of an educational and campus experience as possible while staying as safe as possible in the midst of a challenging national health crisis.
