Get a complete theatre education.

Express and explore your love of theatre by learning (through hands-on practice) every aspect of theatre arts. Small classes and close work with faculty mentors (who are also experienced theatre professionals) will give you an edge as you prepare for a wide range of theatre careers or get ready to bring a show to life. 

Partnering with the theatre arts program, the student-run Berry College Theatre Company produces two main-stage productions each semester—while spearheading service projects, fundraisers and social outings.

Hands On

Here you will experience the full range of roles behind a working production—including costume, set, sound and lighting design; production management; marketing; dramaturgy; acting and directing.

A new Berry College faculty member is one of three U.S. scholars who have been awarded the Fulbright Finland Foundation’s new strategic grant.

The inaugural recipients of the Seeking Solutions for Global Challenges Award are Berry College Associate Professor and Theatre Director Peter Friedrich, University of Maryland Associate Professor Lora Harris and George Washington University Professor Steven Livingston.

The newly constructed Sisters Theatre provides a beautiful, versatile venue for mounting theatrical productions, a black-box theatre with flexible seating and additional shop and classroom space.

Explore a range of vocal and physical techniques for creative expression in performance. Learn to find maximum effect with minimal effort and to connect your movement and voice to imagery and text.

Technical Production

Discover the collaborative contributions that costumes, scenery and lighting make to the art of theatre. Explore the materials, technologies, equipment, structures and best practices used in contemporary theatre production.

Costume Design

Consider the role of costume design in the theatre process. Learn figure drawing and the use of color media for the production of finished renderings. Historical and contemporary design styles will be considered.

Theatre LIVES

A rising star pursues international stage

After shaping his talent and building his résumé at Berry, Stephen leveraged his theater major and business minor into a job performing with Carnival Cruise Line, traveling the world and sharing his talents with an international audience. Stephen credits his Berry professors and work supervisors who helped mentor and guide him from the stage and scene shop to this opportunity to live his dream of being a professional performer.

A half-century before Instagram, with a single ever-so-slightly upward glance, James Dean captured the dreams and anxieties of a generation before perishing at the intersection of two California highways. Twenty years later, members of his most devoted fan club reunite. However, when they face the secrets of the past, what they think will be a solemn affair careens off course as quickly as Dean's doomed '55 Porsche in Ed Graczyk's riveting play.
